Safety & Protection

The safety and well-being of every camper is our top priority.

We are not a business offering childcare—we are a ministry with a mission to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with children and their families. Motivated by Christ’s example, we strive to reflect His love, care, and protection in everything we do. That includes creating a safe, nurturing environment where each child is treated with respect and dignity, and their well-being is our utmost concern.

To ensure the highest standards of safety, we have chosen to go above and beyond the typical industry requirements by partnering with Plan to Protect. This partnership helps us establish comprehensive safety policies that protect every camper. It’s not simply about meeting legal obligations—it's about honoring the Lord through our work by safeguarding the vulnerable in a way that reflects His heart.

Comprehensive Screening and Training

We require all adults interacting with campers to undergo police background checks and complete extensive training in our safety protocols. This training is designed to equip our team not only with the knowledge of how to prevent and address safety concerns, but also with the understanding that each child is entrusted to us with great responsibility. Our staff are thoroughly prepared to handle both the physical and emotional safety of your child, ensuring a safe space for every camper.

In addition, we provide ongoing education to ensure that our staff recognizes and addresses not only common safety issues like hydration and sunscreen use but also more serious matters, such as preventing and identifying signs of abuse. This proactive approach is just one example of how we strive to exceed industry standards in the care of our campers.

Code of Conduct and Adherence to Policies

Our Code of Conduct and Morality Statements set clear guidelines for the behavior of our staff and volunteers. These guidelines are rooted in biblical principles that emphasize respect, kindness, and care for others, particularly the vulnerable. Adherence to these standards is not optional; it’s a critical part of creating a safe and supportive environment at camp. We take any violations seriously and address them promptly to maintain the integrity of our ministry.

Proactive Safety Measures

Our commitment to safety goes beyond compliance. We have a trained medical supervisor on-site at all times to handle first aid needs or medical emergencies. Please note we are legally bound to report any welfare concerns to child services when necessary. These measures are in place to ensure that no matter what happens, we are equipped to protect and care for your child to the best of our ability.

Parents and Guardians: We're Here for You

We understand that entrusting your child to our care may raise questions, and we want to reassure you that every measure we take is motivated by our mission to serve, love, and protect the children God has entrusted to us. If you have any concerns or would like more information about our safety policies, please feel free to reach out to us directly. We are happy to provide answers and discuss any aspect of our safety measures.

Our Christian Motivation for Care

At Hope Valley Day Camp, the safety of every camper is not just a legal obligation—it’s a deeply Christian calling. Jesus taught us to love our neighbors as ourselves (Matthew 22:39) and specifically instructed us to care for and protect children (Matthew 18:5-6). By partnering with Plan to Protect and investing in extra training and screening, we go above and beyond because we believe that every child is a precious creation, deserving of love, respect, and protection. Our mission is to honor Christ’s teachings by providing a safe, nurturing environment where children can experience His love and learn about the gospel.
